skeezixFew Cat Scouts know that the founder of Cat Scouts was none other than Skeezix the Cat. He was in the middle of establishing Cat Scouts and designing really kyoot uniforms for them when he decided to go the Rainbow Bridge during the summer of 2013.

This page is dedicated to all the Cat Scouts who, like Skeezix, were gone before their time.

sammy-kimmel-01It is with profound sadness that Cat Scouts bid farewell today to one of their finest Sabertooth Scouts, Scout Sammy Kimmel.

Scout Sammy had climbed to the pinnacle of Cat Scouts success. Head of the Worldwide Wildcats, he achieved the Sabertooth rank, was a member of the Order of the Arrowhead, and sat on the board of the Cat Scouts High Council. He generously shared his knowledge and experience with younger scouts, and was Chancellor of Cat Scouts University. He was a Cat Scout of the Year.

00-angel-2Many scouts met Sammy through his blog, One Spoiled Cat, eagerly playing each Tuesday Teaser and reading his take on the world. New scouts were welcomed by Scout Sammy soon after they joined. He helped point young hooligans back down a straight and narrow path. Most every scout traveled with Sammy as he led tours around the globe via Sammy’s Travel Service. Scarcely a day went by that Sammy didn’t stop by the campfire, arms full of scrumptious treats to share. He held a particular affinity for bacon, and was a mentor and friend to all.

Sammy was loved and respected by all fellow Scouts, and his contributions were best summed up by Scout Gracie, when she recently nominated him for the Super Special Peer Award:

  1. Not only is he a dear friend to me but a friend to all scouts.
  2. Sammy is always aware of problems going on at scouts and tries to head things off at the pass.
  3. He is very good at mentoring the new scouts when they come in and extends invitations for events and which patrols they could join. He helps guide them through the site if they are having problems.
  4. Every day he is at scouts bright and early serving up breakfast in his den and at the campfire. There isn’t a day I don’t think when he has not been at scouts. Even with the Hooligans at large.
  5. He is active in every event held (unless his mom and dad are unable to be around to help him) But when this happens he sends photos of the events and Raz and I will get him there. When he can he comes back and leave comments about the goings on of the event.
  6. When we get down as a scout, which sometimes happens, he is the first one there giving us the pep talk that we need from time to time.

Sammy’s passing leaves a great void at Scouts and he will be sorely missed.

nick-portraitScout Nick went to The Bridge after a brave battle with lymphoma. He was only three years old.

Scout Nick was an exemplary scout, twice earning Cat Scout of the Week honors and leading the Steel City Scaredy Cats troop. Scout Nick, we salute you.

anubisSweet Scout Anubis left in December 2014, long before it was time to go.

Anubis was 13 yrs old when he crossed the bridge of cancer. He lost his big brother Ramses in February and missed him very much. He enjoyed walking outside on the leash and and sitting on mom’s laptop. He also liked to lay in the sun beams. His mom says “I miss him very much he was my sunshine.”

Awesome Louie was a wonderful, loyal kitty.  He took care of a stray kitten, Mabel, when she showed up at his house.  He befriended another kitten a few short years later, Spicy, when she too was dropped off at his house.  Louie was a gentle friend to everyone he met, including humans.

Despite an illness, he lived to enjoy treats, catnip, and tummy rubs.  He had survived being dropped off in the dead of winter on a farm and lost a few inches of his tail to frostbite.  Louie still had faith in the humans who lived in his world, even though some no longer deserved his trust.

Because he was such a wonderful friend, the humans in his home gave him his very own porch that was filled with all kinds of plants.  He had miniature trees, flowering bushes, and special grass that he could eat.  There was always a bowl of his favorite food and fresh water so everything he needed was never further than a paw away.

Louie was awesome because of the size of his heart.  He will be missed by friends and furpals alike.

  1. Hermes, its six weeks today since you went to the Bridge. I miss you so much! So do mom and dad, and Chessie. Your presence her at home is very strongly felt. You helped raise me! Such a wonderful big Brofur to have! And you invited me into Cat Scouts! Thank you for both of those gifts!
You were, and still are, a very special cat! I love you!❤️

  2. RIP Sweet Sammy. You are sorely missed here at Cat Scouts. My love of bacon is surpassed only by yours. I am wiping away my tears of sadness to let you know that you are loved still. Your kind heart, good spirit and love of bacon made you my very favorite scout. Hugs and Purrs, Alicat

  3. We are glad to give another shout out to our dear friend and mentor! When we first joined Scouts we could not master the photoshop art, and we were almost ready to give up. Sammy gave us daily tutorials and encouraged us until it finally clicked. He believed in us, as he believed in all of the Scouts reaching their potential.

We now wish that he reaches for the highest star and climbs on top of it!

  4. Gee, this seems to be a different Angel Scouts page. We clicked on the Groups one , but this one is different. We are going to feel like very hollow Scouts for awhile. Sammy filled everything out with his humor, friendship and inventive ideas. He will certainly be embarking upon a new adventure over the Bridge. We will look forward to having his Angel presence among us!~

  5. Rest in Peace, Sammy Kimmell. Cat Scout Extraordnaire! You set a fine example for all who will follow in your paw steps! Big steps to fill, but you will inspire us to fill them! I will always love you, My Furend! Til we meet again!

  6. RIP to all of the wonderful scouts at the Rainbow Bridge. I didn’t realize My friend Louie went to the bridge as well…. You are all missed and honored by your scout friends on Earth. ❤️
